Mike Machholz
Class of 2004
Mike graduated from Missouri Valley College in 1984 and has consistently brought national recognition to his alma mater. Mike has been the backbone of the Missouri Valley College wrestling program for 11 years. During his tenure the Missouri Valley College wrestling squad has amassed numerous honors: three national titles, three national runner-up, eight regional team titles, 97 All-Americans, 13 individual national champions, and 10 consecutive top ten team national finishes.
1n 1999, Mike pioneered the way for Missouri Valley College to become the first USA college or university to offer a women’s varsity wrestling scholarship program.
In 2003, Mike was named the NAIA Coach of the Year for the third time. During his first year as head coach he was named the Rookie Coach of the Year by Amateur Wrestling News, and has also won numerous Regional Coach of the Year awards.
Mike is currently a member of the Board of Directors for USA Wrestling and the National Wrestling Coaching Association. He is the NAIA liaison to the NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee, 2nd Vice-President of the NAIA Coaches Association and past president of the NAIA Coaches Association.
Mike and his wife Janine live in Marshall.
