Homer “Red” Leech
Class of 1970
Homer graduated from Missouri Valley College in 1937 and lettered four years in both football and track and three years in basketball. Homer was recognized for his football accomplishments by being mentioned on the first unofficial “Little All-American” list. Homer assumed the duties of track and field coach his last two years at Missouri Valley College.
Homer entered the Kansas Relays in the Decathlon and placed fifth in 1936 and ninth in 1937 both fields containing strong Olympic aspirants. Homer received a citation from the United States Olympic Committee for being one of the top ten contenders at Kansas Relays Olympic try-out.
Homer has been a teacher and Director of Athletics at Carrollton High School in Carrollton, Missouri.
Homer and his wife Betty (former Valley graduate) have two children John (former Valley student) and Sarah Jane.
