David Dominguez-Cross Country Head Coach
Coach David Dominguez takes over the cross country program at Missouri Valley following the 2015 season. He spent 4 year as head coach at University of Saint Mary. Dominguez led 93 Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) athletes, 11 KCAC Champions, 18 NAIA National Qualifiers and 3 NAIA All-Americans.
Coach Dominguez helped the men’s cross country team to the 2013 and 2014 KCAC Cross Country Championship title. 2014 Women’s KCAC Cross Country Championship title Dominguez coached the men’s and women’s cross country team to its first NAIA Nationals appearance. Dominguez was recognized as the 2013 and 2014 KCAC Men Cross Country Team Coach of the Year. 2014 KCAC Women Cross Country Team Coach of the Year He also coached the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Marathon runner -up.
Coach Dominguez joined USM after four successful years at Cuyamaca College in El Cajon, California. During his tenure, he helped return a cross country team to a place in the state championships after a nine-year absence. He was also named "2009 Coach of the Year" for cross country for the Conference. He has coached athletes to school records, 13 individual conference titles, two All-Americans, and one State Champion. Prior to Cuyamaca, Coach Dominguez spent two years as the assistant cross country and track coach at Alliant International University. At Alliant, he coached multiple NAIA All-Americans.
Coach Dominguez earned his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University in 1998 and his Master’s Degree in Education Administration from National University in 2006. He has received his United States Track and Field (USATF) Level I Certification as well as his USATF Level 2 Endurance Certification. Coach Dominguez speaks at local running clinics and has been invited to speak at the KSHSAA Cross Country and Track & Field coaching clinic.
As a collegiate athlete, Coach Dominguez was a seven-time NJCAA All American at Alfred State, where he was also named to the school's athletic Hall of Fame in 2012. He completed his career at Kansas State where he was All Big 8 and Big 12 on the track, and placed top twenty at the Big 12 Cross-Country Championships. Coach Dominguez’s personal records include times of 30:02 for the 10K, 23:48 in the 8K, and 1:50 for the 800 meters.
Coach Dominguez has two sons, Nash and Cruz, and lives in Missouri. Coach Dominguez still enjoys racing at the local level.
Brett Einbecker-Cross Country Assistant Coach
Brett Einbecker is in his second year with the Missouri Valley cross country program. Einbecker served as an assistant coach in the 2014 season, but took over the role as Interim Head Coach of the program in early 2015. During his time with the cross country program, Einbecker has helped in developing a Heart of America Athletic Conference individual champion, Phillip Cheruiyot who won the conference meet in 2014. In 2015, Einbecker coached Cheruiyot to another appearance in the NAIA Men's Cross Country National Championship. In track and field, Einbecker focuses on throwing events, and coached Ajah Hughes to a second place finish in the discus at the 2015 outdoor conference meet.
Prior to his time at Missouri Valley, Einbecker coached at Metea Valley High School where he helped coach a state champion shot put thrower and a second and third place discus thrower in 2013.. Einbecker was also an Illinois state champion in the discus in 2008, and placed second in the state in 2007. His personal best throws are 197'6.5" in the discus and 59'8" in the shot put. As a college student-athlete, Einbecker was a four-year varsity athlete with the University of Illinois track and field program. He was also a four-time participant at the Big Ten Track and Field Conference Championships.
Einbecker has also obtained his USA Weightlifting Level 2 certificate and his USA Track and Field Level 1 certificate.
Sarah Niemeier-Graduate Assistant Cross Country Coach
Sarah Niemeier begins her first season as graduate assistant for the cross country program in 2015. Niemeier will begin her coaching duties after a succesful college career at Missouri Valley. Niemeier was a National championship qualifier in cross country her senior season in 2014. Niemeier also qualified for the National indoor and outdoor meets five times during her career, and was a six-time conference champion in various distance running events. In addition, Niemeier was an all-American in the one mile run at the Indoor championships in 2014 and was a four-time NAIA Scholar Athlete.
Niemeier came to Missouri Valley from Lohne, Germany in the summer of 2011 and earned a bachelor's of science degree in accounting, business administration and marketing. She is currently pursuing her master's of arts in community counseling at Missouri Valley. Niemeier will also be apart of the track and field coaching staff.
