Dear Prospective Student:
Welcome from the Mathematics and Science Division. It is my pleasure to serve as the Dean of the Division. All faculty members in our division are well qualified and experienced in teaching as well as having a considerable amount of work experience in business and industry. We feel that it is important for our students to by taught by people who have lived and practiced what they teach. In addition to the full time faculty members, we also utilize adjunct instructors who also bring the same academic expertise and professional experience to the classroom.
This division offers majors in Mathematics, Biology, and Computer Information Systems. A student can obtain a minor and/or supporting coursework in the above areas as well as in Chemistry and the Physical Sciences. In cooperation with the Education Division, a student can receive teacher certification in the areas of Mathematics, Biological Sciences, Unified Science, Health, Sports Medicine, Computer Information Systems, and the Physical Sciences.
The most current technology is utilized in the classroom and many computer laboratories are available for student use.
We can assist the student who wishes to pursue graduate study or a
career in teaching, the medical field, government work, or business
and industry.
Near future plans call for the development of more interdisciplinary
programs such as a Forensic Science program in conjunction with the
Criminal Justice major.
Recent graduates with a concentration of studies from our division are successful in their advanced studies and/or professional career experiences. They have found employment in public schools, colleges and universities, state and federal government agencies, industry and business. We have graduates now with organizations such as Monsanto, DuPont, Circuit City, J C Penney, EDS, Black Box Corporation, ConAgra, Nortel Networks, Shelter Insurance, Network Appliance, Pepsico, State Farm Insurance, Buckhorn Rubber Co., University of Houston, University of Missouri, and University of Missouri at Rolla to name just a few.
If at any time you feel that we can be of assistance, please contact our office. Our phone number is (660) 831-4135 or my e-mail address is lesliee@moval.edu . I look forward to meeting you.
