Moreland Hall Built in 1963

Moreland Hall Floor Plan

To the northeast, just off the quadrangle, lies Moreland Hall, a dormitory for men. When enrollment fell below 400 students in the late 1970s, it was abandoned and left in need of serious repairs. An architectural firm in 1984 estimated a complete renovation would cost $200,000, more than the College could afford. Director of Maintenance Jerry Jacobs planned a project to fix the place up for far less money. Using equipment and supplies donated by trustees Dick Quinn and Mack Porter, Jacobs and his staff managed to repair windows, doors, floors, and plumbing for a capital outlay of only $8,000. Such personal sacrifices and generous contributions have made Missouri Valley College what it is today.
