Robert Dunham, founder of the Institute for Generative Leadership, has worked as a consultant, educator and coach to executives and management teams nationwide in leadership, communication, teamwork, and people process redesign since 1981. Robert developed the action-based discipline of Generative Leadership and management offered by Enterprise Performance in the three-year Generative Leadership Program™. He also founded the Company of Leaders, an ongoing community for embodied leadership development.

Robert is co-author of the forthcoming book The Innovator’s Way – the Eight Generative Practices with Dr. Peter Denning, which will be published by MIT Press in 2010. He has published articles including The Body of Management, What Makes Leadership Work?, and Back to School – The Top 14 Mistakes that Executives Make. He has also published the articles The Missing Customer and Innovation as Language Action with Dr. Denning. He has written over 30 proprietary papers on leadership and management used in his leadership and management development programs. He co-holds two patents for workflow technology based on the structure of human coordination.

Robert founded Enterprise Performance, a performance consulting company (www.enterpriseperform.com), in 1993. He and his teams have done consulting with clients including IBM, Discovery Channel, Adobe, Toshiba America, Classmates, Scholastic, Wells Fargo, and many other companies.

Prior to founding Enterprise Performance, Bob was a VP at Motorola Computer Systems, as well as COO of Action Technologies and VP of Consulting for Business Design Associates. He also developed the one year Management in Action program for Dr. Fernando Flores, holds two degrees from Stanford University, was on the staff that developed the three-year Ontological Design Course, and has studied the discipline of embodied learning and leadership extensively. Earlier in his career, he led the on-board software development team for the Hubble Space Telescope for several years.

He is an Executive in Residence, Adjunct Faculty, at the Presidio School of Management where he taught in the MBA program in Sustainable Management for three years. He currently teaches in their Executive certification program, and previously taught at the University of San Francisco. He is currently leading the Coaching Excellence in Organizations (CEO) program in joint venture with Newfield Network (www.newfieldnetwork.com).
