Elina Muceniece

Co-Founder, Pales

Elina Muceniece is the co-founder of Pales, running the business operations side of the Company. Pales, founded in December 2014, developed and sells a biometric horse surveillance system. Her interest in the project stemmed from growing up riding horses; Muceniece found that her friends and family were experiencing difficulty measuring the health of their horses. Muceniece and her co-founder won the Maastricht University business plan seed funding competition Local Heroes Award in 2014 for their product.

Muceniece has gained additional experience serving as a venture debt intern at Silicon Valley Bank in London. Here she received experience on the analysis and structuring of venture debt facilities to Europe's most exciting growth stage tech and life sciences start-ups. She also served as an intern for IMS Consulting Group in Munich, Germany. IMS is the largest sales data provider to the pharmaceutical industry. As an intern in the strategy consulting unit, she found answers to large and midsize pharma client questions regarding future product launches, pricing strategies and acquisition targets.

Muceniece is currently conducting undergraduate research in bioinformatics at MAASTRO Hospital Lab in Maastricht, the Netherlands in the department of radiological oncology. The research deals with the analysis of RNA mircoarray sequencing data in glioblastoma cell lines with upregulated NOTCH signaling profiles.

Muceniece is a graduate of Yale University's Global Leadership Program. She is a graduate of University College Maastricht, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on molecular life sciences and statistical mathematics.
