William L. Riggins

William L. Riggins graduated from Albany High, Albany, Missouri, in 1966. He proudly served in the U. S. Army from 1966 to 1969, including 16 months in Vietnam. In 1973, he received his bachelor's degree in agriculture mechanization from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Upon graduation, he was employed by Elanco, a division of Eli Lilly, and Company and Baker Agri-Service in Sedalia, Missouri. In 1981, he, with two partners, started Brunswick Agri-Service, a retail fertilizer, chemical and custom application operation in Brunswick, Missouri. A second location was added in Norborne, Missouri in 1984. In 1988, he sold his interest and started Riggins R-CO, Inc., in Marshall, Missouri. This business, a fertilizer, chemical and custom application equipment sales and service operation, distributed 14 major equipment lines to all of Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma. During the 17 years of operation, under Riggins, the business was awarded many Outstanding Dealer awards. Riggins retired from the business in 2005.

Riggins was involved with several industry organizations including the Western Association, The Association of Work Trust Industry and the North American Equipment Dealers Association. He is a longtime supporter and member of the MO-AG Industries Council, serving on many committees. Riggins received the Ag Leader of the Year award from this organization in 2002.

In 1976, Riggins achieved one of his life goals and dreams by getting his pilot's license and purchasing an airplane. He belongs to the Cessna Pilots' Association, Aircraft Owners' and Pilots' Association, Experimental Aircraft Association and the Antique Aircraft Association. Riggins also dedicates his time to raising funds and overseeing the Martin Community Center and the Nicholas Beazley Aviation Museum in Marshall. He currently serves as president of the Museum's board of directors.

Riggins is very active in the community. He is a member of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce, and was voted Chamber Citizen of the Year in 2012. Riggins is also a member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shrine Club.
