Wendy Torrance, director, entrepreneurship, provides leadership for the Foundationís international entrepreneurship fellowship programs. The Kauffman Global Scholars Program fosters entrepreneurship by immersing select young engineering, science, and technology scholars from around the world in America's entrepreneurial culture, with a view toward making an impact in their own countries. The Kauffman Global Faculty Visitors Program provides faculty from abroad a comprehensive introduction to American entrepreneurship, with a focus on theoretical and practical knowledge needed to promote entrepreneurship on their campuses and in their countries.
Prior to joining the Kauffman Foundation, Torrance was assistant dean of freshmen and lecturer on social studies at Harvard University, where she also was appointed director of undergraduate student programs at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Previously, Torrance was a visiting scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Vienna, Austria; a pre-doctoral fellow at the Center for Science and International Affairs at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University; and, an intern at the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi, Kenya.
Torrance is the author of several scholarly articles on international environmental politics. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with honors from the University of Washington, with bachelor's degrees in international studies and political science. Torrance has a Ph.D. in political science from Harvard University, where she was awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship.
