Being that Dr. Bourgeois was a medical doctor in the army, the family moved from base to base when Curtis was a young child and finally settled in Columbia, Missouri in 1971. The children attended Columbia Public Schools, Curtis M. graduating from Hickman High School in 1978.
Following high school Curtis attended Baylor University and graduated with a business and marketing degree in 1986. Upon graduation he moved to New York to pursue a career in the television industry. He worked as an associate producer for NBC Sports along with several television programs.
In 1986 Curtis decided to return to his roots in Missouri and help transform the Bourgeois family hobby of winemaking in to a successful business. During his 25 years of work at Les Bourgeois Curtis became an integral part of the Missouri Wine Industry overall including serving as president of the Missouri Vintnerís Association and as member of the Missouri Wine & Grape Advisory board.
