William Welter '66
Owner, Welter and Associates · Las Vegas, Nevada
Bill Welter has over 40 years in the restaurant industry. Currently Welter is the owner of Welter & Associates, which is a marketing and advertising consultant company to the U.S. restaurant industry that he started in 1994.
Welter worked for 14 years for Leo Burnet, Co. and Needham, Harper, & Steers in Chicago in client services as vice president for Schlitz, KFC, McDonald’s, and General Mills accounts.
Welter joined Wendy’s International in 1980 as the executive vice president of marketing. During his tenure at Wendy’s, he led Wendy’s in what is arguably their most successful campaign in its history—the “Where’s the Beef?!” campaign.
After a successful career with Wendy’s, Welter co-founded a Columbus, Ohio-based ad agency, Haunty & Welter. He served as executive vice president of Metromedia Restaurants and Heartland Foods for five years.
In 2000, Welter became a franchisee of Buffalo Wild Wings in Las Vegas. For nine years he owned nine restaurants, which he eventually sold back to Buffalo Wild Wings.
Welter obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics from Missouri Valley College in 1966.
