Dr. Wellborn joined the MVC faculty in 1990 as an assistant professor. He was promoted to associate professor in 1996. In 2001, he advanced to the position of Dean and Professor of Education.

He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Secondary Administration degrees from Northeast Missouri State University in 1980 and 1982, respectively. In 1999, Dr. Wellborn received his Ph.D. in General School Administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
