Director of the Viking Sports Network
Ken Kujawa came to Missouri Valley College in 2008 as the director of the Viking Sports Network and later became general manager of the campus station, KMVC-FM, as well as an instructor of mass communications.
After graduating from the University of South Dakota, Kujawa began a career in commercial radio that lasted 30 years. Most of that time was spent at KWIX/KRES/KIRK in Moberly, Missouri. During that time, he served as operations manager and also hosted a morning talk show. In addition, Kujawa did play-by-play for many high school and several college teams. He was the “voice” of the Moberly Area Community College basketball team for 28 years and the Truman State University football team for 15 years.
During his tenure in commercial radio, Kujawa was twice named the Missouri Sportscaster of the Year and received several awards from the Missouri Broadcasters Association including News Story of the Year in small market radio for coverage of a series of deadly tornadoes that struck Northern Missouri in April of 2007.
Kujawa brings much experience to Missouri Valley College that will help prepare students for and find employment in the broadcasting industry when they leave Valley.
“I am excited to be a part of the growing mass communication department at Missouri Valley College,” Kujawa said. “We have a very experienced staff and with our small class sizes, everyone in the major gets practical experience in radio, television, and print.”
