Charlie Guthrey received a BSE from Missouri Valley College in 1971, and an MSE from Central Missouri State University in 1981.
He began teaching in the Slater Public School District, teaching various social studies classes and serving as the head football and track coach from 1972 to 1975.
In 1975, Mr. Guthrey was employed by the Marshall School District, where he taught American History and Sociology for nine years. During this time, he served as an assistant football coach and head track coach until 1984. At this time, he was selected to serve the Marshall District as the Director of Activities and Transportation. Mr. Guthrey served in that capacity for twenty years, until retirement in May of 2004.
During Mr. Guthrey's tenure as Activities and Transportation director, he served on various state committees as well as four years as a director of the state athletic directors association. He also served at the event manage for several district and sectional contest for the MSHSAA.
Mr. Guthrey's career at Missouri Valley College began in the fall of 2006, in the Social Science Division. He has also assumed class responsibilities in the Education Division.
