John D. Gault has a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathmatics from Missouri Valley College, 1958; an M.A. in Physics from University of Missouri, 1964; and a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri, 1971. He has taught in the Belton Public Schools System (1960-61), Missouri Valley College (1961-64), Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil) (1970-1986), and Missouri Valley (1986-present). Gault is a member of American Physical Society, American Chemical Society, and the American Association of Physics Teachers.

  • Awards include: National Research Council Pos-Doctoral Fellowship to the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Reactor and MIT Research Reactor, 1970-71 (15 month appointment); and CNPq (Brazilian National Research Council) Senior Research Fellowship to Liquid Crystal Institute, Kent, Ohio (12 month appointment).

    His research has been in Neutron scattering, Liquid Crystals, and Lyotropic Liquid Crystals. His teaching interests include the areas of Physical Science, Physics, and Environmental Science. He is especially interested in interactive methods of teaching in these subjects.
